Dave Thomas
Dave is currently the President of Unifor Local 707. He has knowledge and experience in risk management, human resources, collective bargaining, and financial audits, budgeting, and inventory.
Dave has a strong work ethic and excellent communication and organizational skills. He has undertaken courses relating to harassment in the workplace, as well as an education program through the C.A.W. Canada (now Unifor).
He is currently employed at Ford Motor Company and over the years has acted as plant representative, steward, committee member, and trustee. He is an active member of the Georgetown community and volunteers coaching hockey and lacrosse in Halton Hills.
Nadia Anton-Collins
Nadia has been the Secretary Treasurer of Unifor Local 707 since 1999 and has worked for Ford Motor Company of Canada since 1984. She is a licensed Paralegal and her community involvement includes being a United Way canvasser, involvement in the injured worker’s community, the Secretary Treasurer of Oakville District Labour Council and much more. Nadia has lots of customer service experience and a strong work ethic.
Gail Luyben-Powers
Gail previously served one year on the Board of Twin Oak Credit Union between the years 2006-2007. She has been employed by Fiat Chrysler for 28 years and has always been an active member of Unifor Local 1285 as the Union Awareness Coordinator and has undertaken numerous training programs to enhance her skills including health & safety, collective bargaining, human rights, and communication programs.
Gail served on the Peel-Mississauga Labour Council from 2001-2004 and also from 2011-2013. She has a background in negotiating and the resolution process and has an enthusiastic approach to developing knowledge, skills, and practical experience.
She had been trained as a Registered Nurse at Sheridan School of Nursing 1977/1979 just after high school. She was also trained at Toronto University 1991 as an Audio Metric Technician. She is currently self-employed on a part-time basis as a Life Insurance and Mutual Fund agent. She is also a breast cancer survivor.
Sewak Manak
Sewak has been an employee at Chrysler for over 23 years and took Business Administration courses at Humber College. His involvement in the community includes being a member of OSGC, Member to Human Rights Local Committee and a Member to AVHS and has received multiple awards. He is the Chairman of the Health and Safety Community Local 1285.
Bill Van Gaal
Bill Van Gaal joined the membership of Twin Oak Credit Union shortly after starting his employment on the assembly line at Ford Motor Co. in Oakville in February of 1963. Bill was elected as a union representative at Ford in 1969 and held the position for 12 years.
In 1981, he was elected Vice-President of the Local Union and became President in 1987. He was elected to the Board of Directors of Twin Oak Credit Union in 1986. Throughout his years of service, he served on the Audit Committee and was Chairman of the Twin Oak Board for over 10 years and of the Momentum Credit Union Board for 2 years.
Bill has been enjoying retirement from Ford since October of 2002. He has been married to his wife Sandra for 49 years and they have 2 children and 5 grandchildren. In his spare time, Bill enjoys reading, fishing, genealogy and most importantly spending time with his family.
Ken Watman
Ken joined the Board of Directors of the American Motors Employees’ Credit Union (AMECU) at the age of 30 and has been a Director since that time with the exception of a few years when he took some time off. Ken has been through the amalgamation of the AMECU into the Brampton Community Credit Union and in turn of Twin Oak Credit Union and Hamilton Community Credit Union into Momentum Credit Union. He has held the position of Corporate Secretary for the past 13 years and has been a member of the Executive Committee.
Ken has served on a variety of committees at each Credit Union and has taken a number of courses to further develop his skills. He is now a retired autoworker out of the Brampton Chrysler plant and is married with two adult children. In his spare time he pursues an avid interest in old cars, of which he has several.
William Jones
William is a Financial Advisor and has a Bachelor of Law, Bachelor of Commerce and Masters of Public Administration. He was previously a Securities Lawyer where governance was an integral part of his work.
He is currently joining Children’s Wish Foundation, has advised numerous boards including Consumer’s Gas and does legal pro bono work. He has strong family ties to the Credit Union dating back to the 1950’s when his grandfather was the President of Otis Elevator.
